Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Building Information Modeling (BIM) has many facets of which a 3D model is only one.
A BIM model has at least seven dimensions (7D) which as they are completed track the project through to handover as the full BIM model, when correctly specified, will in effect become the Operations & Maintenance Manual which also includes all of the design, construction and equipment specifications.
4D is a great tool that specifies how the building should “grow” for each defined time increment. Project Managers can use this tool to track actual project progress against the master schedule.
