Quality Control (QC)

Quality control (QC) is a process by which authorised personnel review the quality of all factors involved in the construction process.

ISO9001 defines quality control as "A part of quality management focused on fulfilling quality requirements".

This approach places emphasis on number of key issues:

  • Development of

    • Organisation chart that matches the project needs

    • Procedures to control activity and outcomes

    • Inspection procedures

  • Confirmation that the quality outcomes are properly defined

  • Selection of qualified persons having the necessary skills

  • Selection of lead persons who have the necessary communication skills

    • To build teams

    • Understand and work within a complex contracting environment

    • To effect change in others

Inspection by QC Inspectors is a major component of quality control, where the physical construction is examined visually and or through test results.
