The Bruce Highway is one of Queensland’s most important transport corridors, connecting communities and supporting the movement of people and freight from Brisbane to Cairns.

Through the Bruce Highway Upgrade Program, Queensland’s largest road infrastructure initiative, the 1,673-kilometre route has been undergoing significant improvements to enhance safety, increase capacity and strengthen resilience against flooding.

Behind every major infrastructure project is a detailed record of what has been built. This is where accurate as-built documentation plays a critical role and where Forsspac has contributed its expertise.

Supporting a landmark infrastructure program

As part of the Bruce Highway Upgrade Program, Forsspac was engaged by Acciona to produce the project’s as-built drawings. These technical records provide an accurate representation of the completed works, creating an important reference for future maintenance, asset management and further development.

From bridges and road upgrades to overtaking lanes and other improvements along the corridor, as-built drawings help ensure that the final infrastructure is clearly documented and accurately represented.

For a project of this scale, precision is essential.

Using established AutoCAD-based processes and a thorough approach to technical documentation, Forsspac worked closely with Acciona to update and maintain the as-built information in line with project requirements. Acciona provided the relevant directions and RLMUs, which Forsspac then incorporated into the drawings to ensure the documentation accurately reflected the completed works.

This close working relationship helped support consistency and alignment throughout the documentation process.

Precision that supports the future

The value of as-built drawings extends well beyond project completion. Accurate documentation provides future project teams, engineers and asset managers with a reliable record of the infrastructure in place.

For a major transport corridor such as the Bruce Highway, this information can support future maintenance, upgrades and development over the long term.

Forsspac’s role in the project reflects the importance of getting the details right. While the work may sit behind the scenes, accurate technical documentation is a fundamental part of delivering and maintaining major infrastructure.

Building strong partnerships through reliable delivery

The Bruce Highway Upgrade Program has also strengthened Forsspac’s relationship with Acciona. Through the successful delivery of the as-built drawing requirements, Forsspac has continued to demonstrate its ability to provide accurate, dependable documentation for major infrastructure projects.

The relationship has also created opportunities for further collaboration, with the Bruce Highway project leading to additional work for Forsspac from Acciona on other as-built projects.

For Forsspac, this is an important outcome. It demonstrates how consistent quality, technical capability and reliable project delivery can create long-term opportunities within the infrastructure sector.

"Acciona engaged Forsspac to provide 2D CAD Drafting to As-Constructed status from Redline comments. I found the team we worked with (Rey, Alvin & Brent) to be professional, proactive and delivered works required on time and to a high quality. I would have no hesitation in recommending them and look forward to continuing to work with Forsspac in future projects." - Leanne Ide. Quality Manager at Acciona

Contributing to Queensland’s transport future

Supported by more than $9 billion in joint government funding, the Bruce Highway Upgrade Program represents a significant investment in the future of Queensland’s transport network.

Forsspac is proud to have played its part by delivering the as-built documentation required to support this landmark program.

From Brisbane to Cairns, the Bruce Highway continues to evolve. Behind the visible improvements to roads, bridges and transport infrastructure, accurate technical records help ensure that the work completed today can be effectively managed, maintained and built upon in the future.

For Forsspac, the project is another example of how precision in technical documentation contributes to the success of major infrastructure while strong client partnerships create a foundation for continued growth.
